STAC GIRLS BASKETBALL: OWEGO DOWNS ITHACA TO COMPLETE PERFECT REGULAR SEASON (2019-02-06)
Tioga County Sports ReportITHACA - A 7-point run midway through the third quarter was key as Owego turned back Ithaca for a 69-60 STAC victory here Wednesday, allowing the Indians to complete a perfect 18-0 regular season.
The Little Red rode late surges in the second and third quarters to keep the game close, trailing by a 34-32 score at the half and 48-46 heading into the final eight minutes.
Owego jumped out to a 20-15 lead after a quarter on nine points from Kaci Donovan and eight by Anna Felice. Graceann Gorsky kept Ithaca in it with seven.
The Indians built a 10-point advantage in the second quarter, only to see Ithaca go on a 10-2 run. Georgia Haverlock was instrumental in keeping the score tight.
The two teams matched numbers in the third period, each putting up 14 points. Donovan accounted for 23 of the Indians' 48 points while Felice and Evee Coleman combined for the other 25.
Donovan finished with a game-high 31 points on 13-for-22 field goal shooting and had a pair of 3-pointers. She went 3-for-6 at the free throw line, handed out four assists, and grabbed six steals and eight rebounds.
Felice contributed 20 points on 5-for-12 field goal shooting and 9-for-10 accuracy at the line. She knocked down one trey, dished out seven assists, and added four steals and three boards
Coleman recorded a double-double with 13 points and 13 rebounds. She connected on six of her 10 field goal attempts, and also blocked four shots, to go with two steals and one assist.
Larissa Fisher chipped in with five points, making both her shot attempts, one a trey. She also contributed five boards, a steal and an assist.
Owego plays for the STAC championship Feb. 14.
