SECTION IV GIRLS BASKETBALL: NV TO HOST WALTON IN CLASS C PLAYOFF OPENER (2019-02-14)

NEWARK VALLEY - Newark Valley will be looking to play the spoiler during the Section IV Class C girls basketball playoffs. The Cardinals (15-3) are seeded fifth.

NV will host 12th-seeded Walton (13-6) at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the first round with the winner facing the winner of No. 4 Bainbridge-Guilford (16-2) and No. 13 Oxford (9-10) at the higher seed Feb 22 at 6 p.m.

Other first-round games include No. 9 Odessa-Montour (13-6) at No. 8 Greene (13-6), No. 14 Unadilla Valley (8-10) at No. 3 Newfield (17-1), No. 11 Deposit / Hancock at No. 6 Moravia, No. 10 Delhi (13-6) at No. 7 Southern Cayuga (14-4) and No. 15 Union Springs (8-11) at No. 2 Watkins Glen (15-4). All first-round games will be played Tuesday at 6 p.m.

Top-seeded Unatego (17-1) receives a bye.

The quarterfinals will be held Feb. 23 at 6 p.m. at the higher seeds. The semifinals will take place at SUNY Cortland Feb. 27 at times to be determined. The championship game will be held at SUNY Cortland March 2 at 1 p.m.
