SPENCER - Connor Kellogg scored 17 points to lead S-VE to a 52-38 victory over Newfield here Tuesday, giving the Panthers a 2-0 start to the season.

The Panthers grabbed a 12-8 lead in the first quarter, then outscored the Trojans, 18-8, to build a 30-16 halftime advantage.

A 15-5 third-quarter run allowed S-VE to seal up the victory.

In addition to Kellogg's 17, Markus Brock and Connor Wallenbeck added eight points each and Dominic Grier chipped in with seven.

Down 12 at the half in last Friday's season opener, the Panthers turned it around with a pair of 14-point outbursts in each of the final two periods.  

A 3-pointer and a pair of free throws from Brock paced a 14-5 third-quarter run. Two baskets and two free throws by Kellogg, and a trey from Connor Forrest sparked a 14-8 final-quarter surge.

Kellogg finished with 12 points and Brock added 10 more. Forrest and Wallenbeck chipped in with six apiece.
