CANDOR - A 21-point second-quarter outburst helped Candor win its third consecutive game Friday night. The surge gave the Indians a 35-25 advantage over Newark Valley at halftime and they would hold off the Cardinals in the final period.

Caleb Vaow put up a pair of baskets in the first quarter as Candor went on top, 14-11. Nick and Daniel Thomas scored six and five points, respectively, in the second quarter.

Daniel Thomas, who drained a 3-pointer in Q2, added two more more treys in the third, giving him a game-high 17 points.

NV's Kyle Coffin, who matched the game-high 17, scored six points in the fourth quarter, Ethan Bigelow knocked down a pair of threes and Andrew Obregon added five more points as the Cardinals made a late run in the fourth.

Nick Thomas contributed 13 points to the win, Vaow added six, and Kevin Cotton, Alex Doucett, Marcus Rypkema and Kolden Foster chipped in with four points apiece.

Daniels Thomas had six rebounds and three steals, Rypkema hauled in seven rebounds, and Cotton and Foster grabbed five boards each. Vaow added four steals and three assists, Nick Thomas had four steals and Brayden Krebs added a block.

NV canned seven threes, with three coming off Bigelow's fingertips. He finished with nine points. Jason Graham added nine points as well and Donavin Anderson-Bebe threw in six more.

Candor (3-1, 2-0) visits Newfield while Newark Valley (0-2, 0-2) visits Notre Dame Tuesday.
