SECTION IV INDOOR TRACK & FIELD: SZABO, WORZEL LEAD OWEGO EFFORT AT BOMBER INVITE (2018-12-09)

Tioga County Sports Report
ITHACA - Owego's Cameron Szabo and Makayla Worzel recorded top-10 finishes at the Ithaca College Bomber High School Invitational Saturday.

Szabo finished third in the boys 1,000-meter run, posting a time of 2:39.37. There were 56 competitors in the race.

Worzel placed eighth in the girls shot put with a heave of 30 feet, 9 inches. The event featured 63 throwers.

The Indians had two additional top-20 individual showings in the boys meet. Derek Sarrge took 13th out of 66 runners in the boys 600, clocking 1:30.9, and Eaan Hackett was 18th out of 65 competitors in the 1600 with a time of 4:53.54.

BOYS
Augustus Cantella was 40th in the 55-meter dash (7.15 seconds) and Logan Mead was 76th (8.3).

James McDonald took 60th in the 300 (45.36) and Nick Maslin was 64th (49.78).

Luke Maslin placed 45th in the 600 (1:42.08).

Gavin Bowers was 41st in the 1,000 (3:18.29).

Joel Choynowski finished 35th in the 1600 (5:10.01).

Dylan Pitcher placed 46th in the 3200 (12:26.88) and Jack Tredo was 48th (13:58.73).

Austin Tompkins took 44th in the 55 hurdles (12.52).

In the long jump, Brandon Worzel took 51st with a leap of 14-1 and Buckingham was 53rd at 13-9 1/2.

Szabo, Luke Maslin, McDonald and Sarrge were 23rd in the 4x200 relay with a time of 1:48.61.

Worzel, Austin Tompkins, Logan Mead and Jaden Buckingham placed 23rd in the 4x400 relay in 4:42.02.

In the 4x800 relay, Gavin Bowers, Tanner Pratt, Cantella and Hackett finished 21st in 10:30.3.

GIRLS
Carmen Jorgensen placed 53rd in the 55 dash (8.81) and Worzel was 63rd (9.21).

In the 300, Jorgensen took 56th (51.85) and Brooke Hathaway was 68th (1:04.28).

Lily Bouton finished 42nd in the 600 (2:10.55) and Leah Watson was 55th (2:19.48).

Ella Reig was 31st in the 1,000 (3:58.77) and Lily Harbor took 41st (4:21.4).

Danielle Knapp came in 38th in the 1500 (5:55.34) and Alyssa Stephens took 45th (6:09.3).

In the 55 hurdles, Bouton placed 35th (11.47).

Nadia Birch took 26th in the high jump (4-2).

Jorgensen, Hailey McHugh, Mia Jones and Worzel finished 30th in the 4x200 relay with a time of 2:17.39.

McHugh, Leah Watson, Hathaway and Harbor placed 24th in the 4x400 relay in 5:54.25.

Knapp, Reig, Birch and Stephens took 20th in the 4x800 relay, clocking 12:54.27.
