YOUTH SOFTBALL: VALLEY STORM TRYOUTS SCHEDULED FOR AUG 10, 12, 14 (2023-08-01)

SAYRE — Tryouts for the Valley Storm softball teams’ 2023-24 season will be held Aug. 10, 12 and 14 at Riverfront Park here.

In addition to the 14U and 16U teams, the Storm is adding a 12U team to the tryout list.

Tryout dates and times are:
Thursday, Aug. 10, 5:30-8 p.m.
Saturday, Aug. 12, 10 a.m. to noon
Monday, Aug. 14, 5:30-8 p.m.

If you would like to try out for the Storm, but can’t make these dates, message Valley Storm Travel Softball on Facebook for a personal tryout. All tryouts will be done and teams announced by Friday, Aug. 19 — no exceptions!

The Storm’s very competitive 14U team will be moving to 16U next year and is looking to add talent to the roster. The 16U team will be adding showcase tournaments as well as entering qualifiers for national tournaments.

There has been significant interest in establishing a younger 14U team for next year with several already committed. The current coach is John Colunio.

The Storm is also starting a 12U team with coaches Savannah Gardner and MaKaylah Leljedal. Gardner is the junior high head coach and Leljedal is the varsity head coach at Northeast Bradford High School. Leljedal played her college ball at Lock Haven University. 12U will play mostly local tournaments.

Previous Storm players currently playing at the college level are always popping in to help coach and mentor the younger girls. The current 14U team has three former Storm players regularly helping and coaching the team.
