THE SPORTS REPORTS: CORNING'S ROSNO HEADLINES ALL-REGION BOYS SOCCER TEAM; OWEGO'S BRICH ALSO EARNS TOP HONOR (2023-12-22)

Corning’s Carter Rosno capped a record-breaking high school career with an outstanding senior season. He is  The Sports Reports’ 2023 All Region Boys’ Soccer “Player of the Year.”

Rosno finished the season with 40 goals, setting the school single-season record for goals. He also established a new career mark for goals for the Hawks.

Prior to this year, the career scoring record for Corning was 42 goals and Rosno nearly matched that in one season.

He also had eight assists on the year, helping Corning win a Section 4 title. He was an all-state selection.

Owego’s Vasil Brich had a big junior season, scoring 16 goals and dishing out nine assists. He is this year’s “Offensive Player of the Year.”

Williamson keeper Logan Stickler is this year’s “Defensive Player of the Year.” Williamson allowed just 15 goals all year, and just nine before their final three games of the year. Stickler had a .79 goals against average on the season and seven clean sheets.

The Corning Hawks won division and sectional titles and coach Chad Freelove is this year’s “Coach of the Year.”

The Hawks’ Taylor Freelove had 11 goals and eight assists as a key player for the Hawks in their sectional title run. He is this year’s “Newcomer of the Year.”
