WINDSOR — Windsor erupted for five fourth-quarter goals to pull away from Owego for a 10-5 victory in Section IV girls lacrosse action Monday night.

It was an otherwise tight contest, tied at one after the first period and knotted at three at halftime.

Owego led 4-3 in the third period when Jenna McEvoy scored just 50 seconds in, but the Black Knights scored the next two goals to go up, 5-4, heading into the final stanza.

Payton Otis would make it 6-4 at 8:38 of the fourth quarter, but the River Hawks’ Lexi Herceg would pick up a hat trick goal at 5:53.

Windsor would answer back 52 seconds later as Otis hit for a hat trick goal.

The Black Knights score the next three goals after that to pull away with Otis closing out the scoring with two seconds on the clock.

Claire Beattie and Elsie Conway scored 19 seconds apart, at 2:48 and 2:29 of the final period.

Herceg scored the first goal of the game at 5:40 of the first quarter, then tied the game at 2-2 at 8:47 of the second. Madison McEvoy made it 3-2 at 8:06, but Conway tied things up at 6:06.

Shannon Maslin was busy in goal, collecting 17 saves and scooping up a pair of ground balls.

Herceg had three goals, won two draws and had one ground ball; Madison McEvoy had a goal, two assists, four caused turnover, four ground balls and two draws; Jenna McEvoy added a goal and three ground balls; Kylie Craven had four ground balls and one caused turnover; and Bella Silvestri added three ground balls and two caused turnovers.

Alexis Nelson tacked on three caused turnovers; Ashleigh Steel contributed three ground balls and two draws; Isabella Herceg had two ground balls; and Keira Henry and Mikala Wilbur added one ground ball each.

Owego (4-5) visits Maine-Endwell (0-7) Thursday at 7 p.m.
