Tioga County Sports Report
CANDOR — Noah Banks fired a 4-over-par 40 on the Catatonk Golf Club front nine to lead Candor to its third win in four outings, defeating a youthful Newark Valley team, 182-248, in IAC boys golf action Tuesday.

Banks registered a birdie on the par-4 seventh hole.

The Coyotes’ three returning veterans all shot in the 40s on warm and sunny, but windy afternoon. Kody Floyd posted a 46 and Tyler Greeno carded a 48.

Newcomer Jak Smith had an impressive round also adding a 48 to the team scoring.

The NV team, comprised of underclassmen and an 8th-grader, were paced by Brady Woods with a 56. Isaiah Smith and Troy Blomberg contributed 62s. Oliver Ferguson and Chandler Baker added 68s, only one of which counted toward the team score.

Also playing for Candor, but not counting in the scoring, were Max Fey with a 53 and Brennan Zimmer with a 56.

Newark Valley (1-3 division, 1-4 overall) hosts Dryden Wednesday at Grandview Farms Golf Course while Candor (2-1 division, 3-1 overall) heads to Village Golf Course in Trumansburg Friday to take on the Blue Raiders. Both matches begin at 3:30 p.m.
