SECTION IV FLAG FOOTBALL: OWEGO CONTINUES TO RACK UP POINTS, SHUT DOWN OPPOSING OFFENSES (2024-04-24)

Tioga County Sports Report
JOHNSON CITY — Owego defeated Johnson City, 52-8, in Section IV flag football action Wednesday evening, improving to 7-0 with yet another lopsided outcome.

The point output marked a season-high for the River Hawks, who scored 51 in their previous victory.

Quarterback Kylie Grippen produced a career night through the air, throwing for 232 yards and seven touchdowns on 20-for-24 efficiency.

Brooklyn Gaurnier and Ashlyn Dalton contributed 73 receiving yards apiece. Guarnier caught five passes, three going for TDs while two of Dalton’s three receptions produced scores.

Alex Aubel hauled in eight aerials for 75 yards and one TD, and Olivia Dodge added a receiving TD as well.

Bella Silvestri led the defensive effort with six tackles and three pass deflections. Dodge had five tackles, Dalton and Guarnier made four each, and Lexi Herceg had an interception.

Owego has now outscored its opponents 263-47.

The River Hawks head to Chenango Forks Saturday at noon to face the team that defeated them in last year’s Section IV Division II championship game. The Blue Devils are 0-5 this season and have scored just 21 points.
