IAC BOYS GOLF: S-VE FALLS TO SOLID TIOGA EFFORT (2024-04-25)
Tioga County Sports Report
WAVERLY — The sun was clearly shining on Tioga senior Evan Sickler as he shot an even-par 37 at The Club at Shepard Hills to lead the Tigers to a 181-239 victory over Spencer-Van Etten in IAC boys golf action Thursday.
Sickler birdied the par-5 fifth and ninth holes to run away from the rest of the field.
Two more Tigers broke 50 on a sunny, but breezy afternoon. Teammate Tyler Roe, who birdied the par-4 fourth hole, was the next closest competitor with a 46. Rounding out Tioga’s team scoring were Levi Bellis with a 48 and Gianni Silvestri with a 50.
Tyler Fedenko paced the Panthers with a 56, just two strokes ahead of John Hastings. Jayden Stone and Zach Hammond both carded a 61.
Non-scoring golfers were S-VE’s Andrew Kinnetz with a 64 and Michael Fanning with a 65, and the Tigers’ James Luther at 52 and Maddux Dyson with a 53.
Tioga improved to 5-1 in the division and 6-2 overall.
S-VE, which slipped to 2-3 in the division and 2-4 overall, begins a four-day stretch of matches Tuesday when it heads to Catatonk Creek Golf Club to take on Candor.
