SECTION IV GIRLS GOLF: SVEC COMES UP SHORT AGAINST VESTAL (2024-04-25)

APALACHIN — Allison Yoon carded a 42 on the par-34 Apalachin Golf Course layout to lead Vestal to a 191-211 win over Spencer-Van Etten/Candor in Section IV girls golf action Thursday.

Yoon, a two-time state qualifier, was one of three Golden Bears to score in the 40s. Jaelynn Wiggins posted a 47 and Molly Schoenfeldt added a 49.

The Eagles were led by their state qualifier, Lauren Gillette, who recorded a 48. Teammate Annika Walle registered a 49.

Rounding out the team scoring for SVEC were Lily Kunzman with a 55 and Maggie Jennison with a 59. Madison Lilley closed out Vestal’s scoring with a 53.

Non scoring golfers were the Eagles’ Emma Veasey (61) and Gwen Shaw (63), and the Bears’ Stella Tomancik (57) and Natalie Christiansen (64).

SVEC is back in action Monday in a multi-team match at the Corning Country Club.
