ENDWELL — Owego built a comfortable lead early and Madison McEvoy scored five goals as the River Hawks rolled past Maine-Endwell, 14-4, in Section IV girls lacrosse action Thursday.

McEvoy sandwiched goals at 11:05 and 7:26 around one by her sister, Jenna, at 10:14 to give the River Hawks a 3-0 advantage.

Lexi and Isabella Herceg got in on the action to make it a 5-1 lead at the end of the first quarter, finding the back of the net with 1:33 and 33.4 seconds on the clock.

Madison McEvoy picked up the hat trick at the seven-minute mark of the second period, then added another tally at 2:54. Jenna McEvoy scored 2:08 to give Owego an 8-3 lead at halftime.

The River Hawks stretched their lead to 10-3 in the third on goals by Madison McEvoy at 9:35 and Amelia Sherman at 3:21.

M-E would sneak in one last goal with one tick on the third-quarter clock as Avery Pufky scored her second goal of the night.

Lexi Herceg tacked on a pair of fourth-period scores at 11:04 and 7:40. Ashleigh Steele scored at 8:23 and Isabella Herceg added a goal with four minutes remaining.

Madison McEvoy contributed five draws, four ground balls and two caused turnovers; Lexi Herceg won three draws and scooped up four ground balls; Steele had four ground balls, three draws and three caused turnovers; and Alexis Nelson chipped in with eight ground balls and four caused turnovers.

Sherman tacked on three ground balls and one draw; Jenna McEvoy had two ground balls; Kylie Craven recorded two ground balls and one cause turnover; Isabella Herceg added two ground balls; Bella Silvestri had one ground ball; and Keira Henry had one draw and one ground ball.

Shannon Maslin made nine saves in goal, and also had two ground balls and one caused turnover.

Owego (5-5) hosts Johnson City Tuesday at 6 p.m.
